Advancing Leadership Through High Impact Communication.

Single Participant

2 – 4 Days

A highly personalized leadership development program designed to assist leaders in leveraging communication to advance their leadership goals and objectives.  Emphasis is often given to addressing specific challenges or engagements.  Our Leadership Communication Profile is often a key feature of this program.  Private sessions for one participant, two to four days within 6 to 18 months; can be extended to more days.

Persuasive Edge Leadership Communication Seminar (Group).

2 to 3 Participants

2 Days

This program emphasizes developing and delivering strategically-focused, targeted presentations as well as fielding tough questions.  Special attention is given to projecting a strong leadership presence, including reflecting leadership in the content and structure of a clear, compelling persuasive message.  A two-day program for 2 to 3 participants.

Defining and Declaring the Leader Within You.

3 to 7 Participants

1 – 2 Days

This personalized  program, based on the premise that leaders  should be clear about what they stand for, helps leaders shape and articulate their leadership stance or credo–their vision, leadership philosophy and principles. Emphasis is also given to how they should advance their impact by communicating and reinforcing messages related to their leadership stance. Dr. Martel’s book on this subject, Leadership Legacies, provides the instructional framework for each program.  A one or two day customized seminar for 3 to 7 participants.

Advancing Leadership Through Media Interviews.

1 to 4 Participants

1 Day

Participants learn to approach media interviews proactively and persuasively to advance business objectives, including the organization’s reputation.  This program highlights how the media operate, methods of preparation, and skills development for a variety of electronic and print media interviews.  All exercises are based on specific issues and expected media contact.  A one-day program for 1 to 4 participants (private or group).

Crisis Communication and Leadership (Private or Group).

A popular and comprehensive program that addresses the necessity for decisive, persuasive leadership communication in high-stakes situations.  Emphasis is given in the two-day program to developing a crisis media strategy and to quality decision-making for both the operational and communication-related dimensions of a crisis.  A one-day program for 1 to 4 participants; a two-day program for 3 to 6 participants.

Communication Strategy Summit (Group).

A custom-designed forum to develop and align communication strategies with business goals and objectives.  This experience often features a proprietary, strategic communication planning model developed by Martel & Associates.  This program usually involves one or two days; the number of participants varies.

“Fire Away” Q&A Seminar (Private or Group).

This program stresses effective response techniques for a wide range of situations where tough questioning is likely and the organization’s leadership objectives need to be advanced (e.g. public hearings, testimony, restructuring announcements, plant closings, relocations and meetings with legislators).  It features our proprietary “Banana Peels©” technique, a method originally developed for President Ronald Reagan.  A one or two day program for 1 to 4 participants.

Leadership Communication Support Seminar (Private or Group).

This custom-tailored program provides counsel to professional communication teams regarding how to further support their leaders’ growth and effectives as communicators.  It features methods developed by Martel & Associates and special exercises regarding strategic thinking and coaching.  A one or two day program for up to 4 participants.

Boards:  Enhancing Communication, Collaboration and Credibility.

Our firm has conducted and published research on board communication practices and offers a broad range of services to boards and parties interacting with them. These mainly include counsel on how to shape and deliver presentations as well as techniques for establishing stronger credibility and enhanced relationships with the board. This one or two day program is customized for one or more persons.

Leaders and managers spend approximately 25% of their time dealing with conflict.  Yet the ability to handle conflict well is one of the five major development needs facing leaders.  This program has three broad objectives: 1 help leaders learn how to capitalize on the constructive conflict which can generate openness, fresh ideas, and better decisions; 2 teach techniques to better manage unhealthy conflict; 3 enrich the organization’s culture by valuing diverse perspectives while encouraging innovation.  The Thomas-Kilman Indicator (TKI) is the centerpiece of this program.  A highly regarded assessment tool administered to all participants, it analyzes conflict styles and classifies them into five categories: competitive, collaborative, compromising, accommodating, and avoiding.  A full day program for 3 to 7 participants (other format options available).

This custom-designed program focuses on supporting leaders in shaping and articulating their vision, values, strategy and other core leadership messages to cultivate key stakeholder awareness, alignment and action.  Emphasis is given to both the content of these messages and methods to disseminate and reinforce them.  Proprietary materials developed by our firm help streamline each aspect of this process.

The size of this group and length of the program are based on an in-depth planning session, usually lasting one-two days.
